EVEN MORE ‘MILLS PER HOUR’ FROM MEV
With the National Kit Car Motor Show 2015 – let’s just call it ‘Stoneleigh’ eh? – fast approaching, Mills Extreme Vehicles boss, Stuart Mills, has been on to tell me of his plans for his always heaving stand, at the show, which just happens to be near our own in Hall One.
As one of the most prolific and innovative specialist car designers it will be no surprise to discover he has something new up his sleeve, although he’s surpassed even his own efforts this time with no fewer than FOUR new models due for launch. Where does the guy find time for sleep?
The first, the Concept Coupe, is a gullwing sportscar concept that Stuart wants to gauge public reaction although I managed to persuade him to give me a tease shot. He told me intriguingly this week: “I’ve always loved the DeLorean DM1 so expect added entrance and egress drama.”
If that sounds exciting how about a revised Replicar, now with opening doors and bootlid; the marvellously-named Field Master XS4 and new for 2015 version of the Exocet, which Stuart claims will be the cheapest and easiest kitcar in the world to build.
He takes up the story: “Exocet has gone ballistic and we have increased production capacity by bringing a second jig on stream to help us keep up with demand and also increases efficiency.
“Celebrating the milestone of 500 Exocet kits sold in the UK caused us to find a way to honour this occasion and so a special version will be on show at Stoneleigh. Our stand is in hall one right next to a well-known magazine vendor!” That’ll be us, then!
Personally, I can’t wait. Expect the MEV stand to be a busy one, as always.
