WINDOW DRESSING
A first for the kitcar industry – certainly in the last 40-years or so, anyway – is a kitcar on display in the prestigious and expensive windows of Harrods in Knightsbridge. That honour fell to Lister Bell Automotive and their STR Stratos replica as part of a campaign run by prestigious watch brand, Zenith, who sponsor former Grand Prix driver, Érik Comas (59 starts between 1991-94 for Ligier and then Larrousse) and his Lancia Stratos rally car.
Lister Bell’s MD, Craig White was approached by Zenith, who wanted a Stratos in a specific bodystyle and livery, as the focal point of their Harrods display. The car remained in situ for the month of May and is a significant coup for not only Lister Bell but the industry in general.
Lister Bell could well be the first kitcar in Harrods window, but I am certain that a TiCi, thanks to Sir Stirling Moss’ involvement, was on display there back in the day, as aprt of some publicity stunt, although that may not have been in the window. Meanwhile, a Charger was definitely shown at Selfridges in Oxford Street in the seventies.
Either way, it’s a great bit of Kudos for Craig and team. Well done to all. More from www.listerbell.com or 07851 183 933 ENDS.
