CLUTCHES ON SPEC FROM SUMMIT RACING
Summit Racing offers a large selection of SPEC Clutch Kits. They are available in various torque capacities depending on your use, so a consultation with a Summit Racing sales rep is highly recommended. All clutch kits come with a matched pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and installation tool.
Stage 1 Clutch Kits
The Stage 1 kits feature a double-sprung clutch disc with a steel-backed, carbon/KevlarÒwoven facing that offers smooth engagement and excellent life under high clamp loads and temperatures.
Stage 2 and Stage 2+ Clutch Kits
The Stage 2 kits have a full-faced pure double-sprung clutch disc with steel backing depending on the application. This clutch face offers easy pedal feel and excellent street manners with high torque capacity and longer life than the Stage 1 kit.
The Stage 2+ kits have a full-face, double-sprung clutch disc with carbon/semi-metallic lining on one side and KevlarÒon the other. These kits offer the drivability and engagement quality of a Stage 2 clutch, but have 15 to 20 per cent higher torque capacity.
Stage 3 and Stage 3+ Clutch Kits
The Stage 3 kits have a six-puck, spring-hub clutch disc with a carbon/semi-metallic clutch face designed for street and race cars that require aggressive but usable engagement and high torque capacity. The Stage 3+ kits have a full-face carbon/semi-metallic sprung clutch disc that combines longer life with the same engagement and torque capacity as the standard Stage 3 clutches.
Stage 4 Clutch Kits
These kits feature a solid eight-rivet clutch hub that can handle big torque. The clutch disc has a carbon-metallic facing in a three-, four-, or six-puck configuration. The three-puck is the lightest, the six-puck offers the smoothest engagement, and the four-puck is a good compromise of the other two. SPEC doesn’t recommend using a Stage 4 clutch for road use due to the harsh engagement of the solid hub.
Stage 5 Clutch Kits
This is the clutch for all-out drag racing. It features a solid 12-rivet, full-face clutch disc with a full-metallic facing to deliver the highest possible friction coefficient. Like the Stage 4 clutches, the Stage 5 isn’t recommended for street driving.
Tuned Billet Flywheels
SPEC billet flywheels are not a one-fits-all lightweight flywheel – they’re designed for specific driving environments based on how an individual car reacts to changes in rotating mass. Manufactured from billet steel and aluminium, they are the only flywheels on the market manufactured to a .001in machining tolerance, guaranteeing a flat seating surface for the clutch, perfect balance, and extended engine life.
The flywheels can be used for many racing/ high-performance applications.
