SPIRE AT THE POINTY END AGAIN
Brand new from Spire Sports Cars is the new RB7, built to compete in the CSSC ‘Mag 7’ Series, driven by Dave Watson and John Cutmore.
The chassis is based on Spire’s front-engined RGB car and both are fitted with RLM-prepared 1440cc Suzuki Hayabusa engines, Elite MX200 diffs, Tim Gray Motorsport air paddle-shift systems, new billet front uprights with vented discs all round and Image rims with Avon tyres.
Spire boss, Paul Nightingale told me: “We ran the first finished car for Dave Watson at Anglesey a couple of weeks ago. He qualified 5th from 38 entries, finished 4th in the Saturday race and won the Sunday race.
We have subsequently been told the car will not be eligible for Mag7’s again unless we make the bodywork more Lotus Seven-looking in silhouette, so that will be the first job to tackle when I get back off holiday.”
Prices for race-spec kits have not been set yet but fully built examples like those pictured here are around the £60,000 mark.
