Ford parts meisters Burton Power has announced that it can now offer Ford Type 9 Five Speed Gearboxes (also referred to as a ‘Type N’ gearbox in some workshop manuals) with a 2.98:1 ‘long’ first gear.
The complete gearboxes have been reconditioned to Ford OE Standards using the GBT9200 long first gear conversion kit.
This partial gear kit is designed to lower the ratio of first gear from a short 3.65:1 to a much more useable 2.98:1. The upgrade includes a brand new mainshaft first gear and a used layshaft cluster that has been modified to work with the new first gear. The remaining gears are as original. The gear ratios are: 2.98/1.97/1.37/1:1/0.82.
It is ideal for kitcar use as plenty of Type 9s are in use in our game, of course.
