NEW OWNER FOR SCHOLAR ENGINES
Well-known Lotus tuning specialist and officially appointed Lotus service centre, Hangar 111 of Waldringfield, Suffolk recently took over legendary engine company, Mendlesham-based, Scholar Engines from Alan Wardropper. His father founded the company way back in 1968, so they have quite a pedigree.
Hangar 111 has worked with Alan on various engines over the years and Scholar has a glittering list of Formula Ford drivers among its clientele who graduated to F1, such as David Coulthard, for one.
The company also produces engines for road and trackday use and plenty of kitcars are running around on engines built or tuned by the masters at Scholar (I’m pleased with that one – Ed).
They have a specialisation in various Ford units (obviously!) but also happily work on units like Rover K-Series, Jaguar AJ-V6 and the criminally overlooked Vauxhall XE.
