The Ford English axle has been around since the days of the Ford Anglia 105E/123E and Ford Prefect 107E. It was also used in performance models such as the Lotus Cortina, the Mexico, the Escort Twin Cam, the RS1600, RS1800, RS2000, the Lotus Elan and thousands of kitcars.

Despite these impressive credentials, there are areas where improvements can be made, and that’s exactly what Burton Power has done with its Lightweight Aluminium Alloy (heat-treated L169) Differential Housing – part number LSDDH1.

The Burton housing is a direct replacement for original cast iron item. It boasts a thicker flange for reduced distortion and comes with extended studs for the axle casing. The case also incorporates an additional strengthening rib for extra stiffness. The housing is supplied with pinion bearings already fitted and the depth of mesh checked and stamped on the casing.

The upgrade saves almost 5kg on overall weight and provides extra durability for competition use. The Burton LSDDH1 Differential Housing retails at £445.50 inc VAT.
