Here’s an interesting new little car from Slovakia. Not a kitcar but very specialist. It comes from a company called Patak and it’s called the Rodster and is classed as a quadricycle meaning that in some territories (such as France) it can be driven by 16 and 17-year-olds.

Deliveries are expected to begin in 2024 but it is possible to register your interest and place a €500 deposit and it is possible to choose from five standard colours. There is a choice of engines including an un-named petrol unit and electric motors (100km or 250km ranges).

At just 3.36m long the car is underpinned by a perimeter frame chassis with fabricated suspension parts and disc brakes (with ABS) all-round. The Rodster features air conditioning, parking sensors, central locking, electric windows and a CVT automatic transmission.

From what I can tell the level of trim is pretty high with leather seats and a wooden dashboard.

Two models are available – the Rodster NR (No Roof) and the Rodster with a sliding and tilting roof. Prices start at €16,900 for the NR with petrol engine and €18,400 for the version with the roof. You have to add €6000 for the 100km electric motor or €8500 for the 250km version.
