After spotting details of a French ‘special’ he didn’t know about on the brilliant prewarcars.fr – STEVE HOLE brings details of the Citroën Radar.

It turns out that the car was the work of a Liège-based Citroën dealer called Robert Radar. As well as being available in fully built form, it was possible to buy it in kit form. Radar first designed his eponymous GRP-bodied roadster in 1956. He then proceeded to sell twenty of them, plus around forty bodies.

Citroën’s Belgian importer then took it on and sold the ‘2CV-Radar’ between 1959-1962. Visually very similar other than it having a little bonnet, no door handles and a Citroën DS rear window used as a windscreen.

However, they only sold a few, including two in kit form.

So, a short but sweet story of a car you may not have heard of. I would love to see one.

If, like me, you have a fascination for classic French cars then I can recommend www.prewarcars.fr. It is a superb resource on the subject.

Thank to them for the images, too.
