HAVE YOU GOT A MK5 MONDEO?

Decided to run this one as there’ll be plenty of readers in the UK and Europe with a Mk5 Mondeo!

Powerflex has released an uprated lower engine mount insert for the fifth-generation Ford Mondeo

British automotive bush specialist Powerflex is delighted to launch its application list for the fifth-generation Ford Mondeo, produced from 2014 to the conclusion of the Mondeo nameplate in Europe in 2022. The new lower engine mount insert is designed to enhance engine control for sharper throttle response and gear changes, and is also suitable for vehicles that share the Ford CD4 platform: the third-generation Galaxy MPV and second-generation S-Max MPV.

Though this final generation accumulated fewer sales than its predecessors due to the market favouring SUVs, the Mondeo nevertheless maintained the model’s reputation as a great all-rounder, being popular with families and professionals alike.

However, with age and high mileage comes wear in key chassis connections. In this regard, Powerflex engineers observed that the original soft rubber material of the Mondeo’s lower engine mount tends to perish and crack around its inner voids. This increases engine roll and vibrations and reduces the mount’s ability to dampen movement within the powertrain – traits that the company’s cost-effective and easy-to-fit insert helps to address.

New part: lower engine mount insert

• APPLICATIONS: Ford Mondeo (2014-2022), Ford Galaxy (2015-2023) and Ford S-Max (2015-2023)

• PART NUMBERS: PFF19-2525 (for petrol models and tuned diesels) or PFF19-2525R (for standard diesel models and vehicles with automatic transmission)

• PRICE: £24.54 inc VAT

• GOOD TO KNOW: This product is designed for front-wheel drive models only

The new lower engine mount insert is designed to precisely fill the upper void within the original rubber mount but leave the lower void open. This combination reinforces the connection and limits movement for optimal performance, while minimising the harmonic transfer of noise and vibration in order to maintain an excellent level of passenger comfort.

After careful consideration and testing, Powerflex has opted to produce this insert in two different polyurethane blends: Yellow (70ShA durometer) material for petrol models and tuned diesels, and a slightly softer Red (65ShA durometer) material that is ideal for standard diesel engines and models with automatic transmission.

Powerflex inserts are rendered in specially formulated polyurethane blends that are renowned for their resistance to wear over prolonged use and high mileages, as well as common contaminants such as oil, salt and road grime.

Powerflex is proud to offer a lifetime warranty on its entire range of road and race products.
