Here’s one primarily aimed at our North American readers …
Tired of covering engines in trash bags and storing cylinder heads and transmissions in cardboard boxes? Do what NASCAR, NHRA, SCCA and other pro racers do and store your spares in Scribner Plastics Storage Containers. They’re rotationally moulded from ultra-high-strength polyethylene that is impervious to most automotive fluids -no more soggy cardboard. Most containers have a tapered shape at the top and bottom so you can stack them. That saves you space in a crowded shop.
Scribner Plastics Storage Containers are designed to be shippable, so you can send off an engine, transmission, or cylinder heads to your favorite builder or porter without worrying about damaging anything. The containers are ideal for carrying spares in your race trailer, too.
Engine Shipping Containers
Summit Racing offers several types of Scribner Plastics Engine Shipping Containers. Motor mounts are available to secure small and big block Chevy, small block Ford, and GM LS engines in the containers. Other engines will require a suitable tubular engine cradle.
• The Small Block Container is designed to accommodate most small block Chevy and other small block engines. The compact size makes it ideal for race trailers. Most dry sump oil pumps and front accessories will fit, but parts like taller intake manifolds will need to be removed. There is an extended-length version for engines with bellhousings and a four-inch taller version for engines with Sprint Car-style injector stacks
• The Big Block Container has ample room for big block Chevy, small block Chevy with deep sump oil pans and tall intakes, small block Ford, and GM LS engines
• The Ultra Large Container is known as ‘The Monster Case’. This big container will accommodate larger engines with tall decks, billet heads, deep oil pans, and tall intake manifolds
Summit Racing also has Scribner Engine Containers for storing disassembled engines, short blocks without heads or intake, and bare engine blocks.
Transmission Shipping Containers

Scribner Plastics Transmission Shipping Containers are available in three versions:
• 32in long container for front wheel drive transmissions, transfer cases, and shorter rear wheel drive transmissions. It comes with a ribbed insert pan and straps to secure the transmission in place
• 46in long container that accommodates most rear wheel drive transmissions. It also has a ribbed insert pan and straps to secure the transmission in place
• Standard/manual transmission container for T-10 or Jerico type four-speed transmissions. The transmission bolts to the front bulkhead mounts and is secured to the cradle-style rear mount with a strap
Cylinder Head Shipping Container
The Scribner Plastics Cylinder Head Shipping Container can accommodate most small and big block cylinder heads. Most Pro Stock-style heads will also fit. The container has a domed cover that fits securely over the double-wall base and a cinch strap secures the cylinder head in the base. The strap has an abrasion sleeve to protect it from sharp edges on the cylinder head.
Third Member Storage Container for Ford 9in

The Scribner Plastics Third Member Storage Container is ideal for carrying a spare third member in the race trailer. Get a couple and you can have third members with different gear ratios ready to bolt into your rear axle. The differential bolts to the base of the container, and the lid bolts over it for safe, dust-free storage.

Summit Racing also carries Scribner Plastics’ Carburetor Container for 4150-style carburetors and Go Kart Engine Container with a blank insert that you can drill to mount a Briggs and Stratton, Honda, Rotax and most other Kart engines.
