As spring develops, and the leisure season gets underway, enthusiasts will be keen to find ways of further improving their time away in their caravan or motorhome. Sufficient power and its dependability are always high on the list because, whatever the weather, electrical equipment is an ever present requirement when on a trip.

To help enthusiasts identify the batteries that will best suit their needs among the plethora of alternatives in the marketplace, the National Caravan Council (NCC), which represents the UK caravan industry, introduced its Verified Leisure Battery Scheme.
So, to further cater for the growing consumer demand for NCC verified batteries, Ecobat Battery, the UK’s largest battery distributor and an NCC member since 2016, has had another eight batteries, represented by Odyssey and Rolls, two of the many premium quality battery brands it stocks, added to the scheme for the 2025 season.
These new additions utilise either absorbent glass mat (AGM) or lithium technology, so all deliver an extended cycle life, with six being Class A and two Class C classifications.
NCC verified leisure batteries are tested by the battery manufacturer and then verified by the NCC, considering their minimum capacity and the minimum number of life cycles at 50 per cent depth of discharge. They are then allocated into one of three classes.
Starting with Class C, which is for situations where the power consumption is low and used with an electrical hook up, 70 marks the threshold for the minimum number of cycles. Then comes Class B for higher consumption conditions, where a motor mover is used, for example, but still generally used with an electrical hook up and a minimum of 200 cycles and finally, Class A, for applications frequently used without an electrical hook up and subsequently deliver a minimum of 350 cycles.
In short, the scheme ensures it is easy to identify which batteries on the market are quoting accurate, verified specifications, which gives consumers confidence that the battery they are considering is fit for purpose and will perform as advertised.
In detail, the eight new NCC verified batteries encompass three AGM and three lithium batteries from Rolls, with capacities from 95 to 128Ah and 100 to 150Ah respectively and all classified Class A, and two Class C AGM batteries from Odyssey, one of 63Ah and the other 85Ah capacity.
With these new additions, Ecobat Battery now has more than 50 NCC verified batteries from manufacturers including Exide, VARTA, Lucas, Numax, Odyssey and now Rolls, in its extensive portfolio, which are available from its stockists countrywide.
