October 2024 marked the 40th anniversary of Tornado Sports Cars as a component car manufacturing business.
The company was formed by the father and son team of Alan and Andrew Sheldon initially to produce a replica of the McLaren M6 GT road car of the early seventies. In 1989, a Ford GT40 replica was also introduced called the Tornado TS40.

Burton Power is now offering a complete Ford Type 9 five-speed gearbox which has a GBT9200 long first gear conversion. The ratio of first gear has been lowered from a short 3.65:1 to a much more useable 2.98:1.
These gearboxes have been reconditioned, but to Ford’s exacting O.E. Standards. This includes a brand new mainshaft first gear and a layshaft cluster that has been modified and fitted with a new first gear. The remaining gears are as original.
