Centaur Industries has introduced their first insulating coatings for heat and sound aimed at the specialist vehicle market. The products are intended for both the professional installer and people who enjoy working on their own vehicles.

‘We’re really excited about these products,” said Martin McDermott, Centaur managing director.

“Not only do we believe that they have some significant advantages over other products currently available, such as ease and speed of application and weight, but they’re also water-based and non-toxic,” he continued.

Hushcoat is an elastic coating that reduces noise in vehicles by damping vibration and includes additives that turn it into barely detectable heat. It weighs only 136gm per square foot – less than traditional products. It is easily applied by spray, roller, or brush and can be installed in areas that other products can’t reach. For instance, it can be sprayed in wheel-arches to reduce road-noise.

Meanwhile, Thermcoat is a ceramic insulation that can reduce heat transfer by up to 30 degrees C per millimetre of thickness applied. Even lighter than Hushcoat, at 45gm per square foot, it can be used both inside and outside of the vehicle. Used under the bonnet, or on the bulkhead, it will reduce heat transfer and will not soak up oil or water.

Hushcoat and Thermocoat are derived from products that have been used in marine and industrial environments for at least 10-years. They are designed as permanent coatings and they form a seamless barrier to whatever surface they are applied to. Both are guaranteed to be effective.
