As one of the UK’s leading kitcar manufacturers Mills Extreme Vehicles, better known simply as ‘MEV’, their kits appeal to a wide cross-section of people.

Glasgow Kelvin College is currently building their own Exocet and school students at the age of 14 and 15 have the option to attend college twice weekly.

Curriculum Automotive Manager, Jim Allan, explains: “The Scottish government is encouraging colleges to improve lessons to get the school students to fully engage in their learning. The Glasgow Kelvin College strategy was to seek a project, and the students all loved the look of the MEV Exocet when I took them to the website.

“We have been working in phases. Phase one was to get a car to present. Phase two, where we are at the moment, is to modify with adjustable suspension, fit racing harnesses and the like and get ready for the track. Phase Three, we may go to IVA but that is still in discussion.

We see a difference with our school students, as they come to college ready for the challenge and the project has them fully engaged. We won a “Highly commendable” award from The Scottish Qualification Authority, which delighted everyone.”

Can’t add much to that apart from saying a big ‘well done’ to both MEV and Jim and his students at Glasgow Kelvin College.
