EXCLUSIVE – VERY COOL NEW ARRIVAL
EXCLUSIVE EXCLUSIVE EXCLUSIVE EXCLUSIVE
Exciting new arrival from our mates Phil Edwards (Aries Motorsport) and Andy Bates (AB Performance), which is full of innovation and undoubtedly massive potential.
It’s based on the AB/Aries Arion, a full-bodied kit, obviously, and one we featured in TKC Mag a year or so back. We loved it, by the way. Owned by Gary ‘The Rocking Rev’ Gotham at the time, it was the first road-going Arion. Gary can regularly be seen around his Wiltshire home – and well beyond – enjoying his Arion
Meanwhile, the new arrival uses the Arion’s spaceframe chassis, which cunningly means that the two bodies are interchangeable. As Phil Edwards told me: “Aero-racecar on Saturday, hillclimb car on a Sunday – or even use it for a trip to the beach or pub.”
Prices, and even the car’s name, are yet to be revealed. There’s been a veil of secrecy surrounding the car, which has been built behind closed doors, meaning only Phil and Andy (and Nick at AB) and a couple of other people even knew of its existence, let alone seen it.
However, we do know that it can accommodate a full windscreen or a ‘double-bubble’ aeroscreen and has been built with taller drivers in mind (up to 6ft 8ins Phil reckons) and has a wide-body meaning welcome extra space in the cockpit for, ahem, larger drivers.
The other really good thing is that a variety of engines can be used. Usual suspects such as Ford EcoBoost, Duratec and Zetec are obvious candidates while how about Honda S2000 and interestingly the new Peugeot 1.6 Ti-DCT (as sold by Power Torque Engineering in the UK)?
We’ll be bringing you the EXCLUSIVE first test of the new car and I’m really looking forward to having a go in it.
One thing is for sure and guaranteed, the build quality, general packaging and its capabilities will be excellent given the skills of the blokes involved.
