NEW ARRIVAL – AN AARDVARK!
ARL has announced a new model due for launch this summer. The SP-1 will be offered alongside the existing GT-R model.
The new one is described as a significant evolution of the GT-R, which has been created to deliver a more track-focused car with updated styling. The approach taken for development was to question each component of the car and look at how it can be improved to make it faster around a lap and, of course, easier to assemble.
The all-new bodywork has a lower frontal area for less drag in addition to integrated alignment features to make it easy to fit the body and achieve crisp shutlines.
There are also extensive changes under the skin with a lighter, stiffer chassis that has been designed by using cutting edge topology optimisation software. The rear suspension has been upgraded and features fine adjustment spherical bearings as standard.
From the driver’s seat things look a little different, with a new dashboard and drivers’ instrument pod and improved ergonomics offered by top-hinged pedals. The power is provided by a Honda CBR1000RR engine, offering around 200bhp coupled with a slipper clutch and six-speed sequential gearbox for an exhilarating drive.
Although the SP-1 is track-focused, it is also fully road legal and will be available in road- or track-based build modules, with the comprehensive chassis kit starting at £3060.
