RUN TO THE SUN
Feb 25th
Great to hear from Quantum Sportscars boss, Rob Hancock (his enthusiasm is infectious) that the Devon-based company is enjoying a great start to 2021 with kit orders, refurbs and spare parts keeping him very busy.
A new Xtreme demonstrator is under build, as is a trackday car plus Rob has also found time to revise the Sunrunner kit, adding 6in to the length, 2in to the width while also lowering the floors. Kit prices for the Sunrunner Mk2 have yet to be confirmed but expect a sub-3K ticket.

HOLDIN’ FOLDIN’

This is a great piece of kit for the advanced DIY-er. It comes from our friends at Sealey and is a floor standing sheet metal folder which is ideal for yep, folding sheet metal! Especially useful if say you have some panelling to do and it can cope with up to 22mm gauge, which will make it beefy enough for most home workshop requirements.
I like the fact that rather than being unwieldy and always in the way (don’t you just hate falling over stuff?) it can be folded and stored neatly. Comes with a lifetime guarantee and although at 4p More >
KEEP THAT FIRE EXTINGUISHER TOPPED UP AND SERVICED
Feb 25th
Remember, that for motorsport (a good idea for trackdays, too) use your fire extinguisher must be serviced every two-years inline with FIA recommendations. Merlin Motorsport services SPA and Lifeline Zero 2000 and onsite at their HQ within the grounds of Castle Combe circuit.
LIFELINE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLES – The bottles have a ten-year life from the year of manufacture. Any bottles older than ten-years must be replaced. Due to the introduction of FIA Technical List 16 for fire extinguishers, it is no longer possible to replace just the bottle from your older system, it will mean a full refit of a new system.

EVOLVE

New from Draper Tools is this new Evolution jack. The company says that it features a unique design that sets the three-tonne jack apart.
It features twin pistons, which allows the saddle to a full 580mm, which is a useful 80mm higher than most standard trolley jacks. Draper also says that just 4.5 ‘pumps’ will see the jack fully elevated.
Another useful under-the-skin upgrade is the internal magnetic filtration system that keeps the all-important hydraulic oil from contaminants, ensuring a safer, longer between change period.
Go on admit it. When was the last time you checked the hydraulic oil in your trolley jack? More >
