CRIKEY, THAT’S A RELIEF

It’s a fact; summer temperatures are getting hotter. This can cause some serious radiator problems, but Design Engineering Inc (who is based in the USA where extreme temperatures are more common) have a well-tested remedy …

DEI’s Radiator Relief™ is a high-performance coolant additive that ‘supercharges’ the radiator by transferring heat more efficiently through the radiator to prevent overheating.

Radiator Relief is designed to reduce the coolant’s surface tension, which maximises the thermal conductivity and transfer process through the cooling system.

This coolant additive has been proven in the desert heat of the Southwestern United States. It will reduce engine operating temperature by More >

THE STORY OF ROY WINKELMANN RACING

A KING OF FORMULA 2 STEVE HOLE TELLS THE STORY OF ROY WINKELMANN RACING

Another of motorsport’s best-known ‘unknown’ teams was the eponymous Roy Winkelmann Racing squad.

Born in 1930, Winkelmann thrived on being slightly mysterious and began racing a Cooper-Bristol in the early sixties before setting up his own team, first in sportscars in 1961 with Danny Collins driving a Corvette at Goodwood followed by a Lotus 23 in sports-racing events.

What better way than to show the Roy Winkelman Racing livery than to promote a great scale model company and their lovely 1/8-scale Winkleman Lotus 59B F2 car (powered by Cosworth More >

REPLICAR REVISION

Having heard about – and spoken to Quantum boss Rob Hancock during development – the new Quantum LMR-141 I was very impressed when I saw the part built new demonstrator at Newark and I wasn’t the only one, either.

NEW LMR 141

He managed to get to Newark by the skin of his teeth and only left Devon at 3am on Saturday morning just in time for the start of business at 9.30am!

Why ‘LMR-141’? Well, LMR stands for Le Mans Racer with 141 denoting ‘1 donor for 1 racecar’. Simple really.

Rob has shortened the original Replicar ‘shell by 14in and narrowed it More >

COX, GTM, PRIMO NOW HAMBLY COUPE!

Great to see Derek Hambly at both of this year’s kit car shows with his lovely little Primo Coupe. Yes, I know it looks like a COX GTM aka GTM COUPÉ but technically Derek’s car is the later SVA-compliant version (re-sited headlights among the changes) by Primo Designs run by the late Peter Leslie

Derek acquired the project in 2015 and has worked continuously to make a variety of tweaks and can now supply the Hambly Coupe in kit form as well as offer replacement parts and machining services to existing Cox GTM owners.

For example, when it comes to floorplans he More >

They had plenty of examples of the products on display at Newark.

HEAVY DUTY MINI ‘BOX

Mini Spares has introduced its new close-ratio MSG03 gearbox that features special heavy-duty 2nd and 3rd gears, laygear and a first motion shaft to match. This combination provides a quiet road ‘box suitable for engines producing up to 125 lb-ft of torque on naturally aspirated engines.

LOOKING FOR ANGLE

New from Summit Racing – Many of today’s engines use the more accurate torque angle method for tightening fasteners, especially on critical components like cylinder heads and main cap bolts.

A Performance Tool Torque Angle Gauge will help you do that. It has an easy-to-view 360-degree scale that reads in two-degree increments so you can quickly see the exact amount of torque applied to fasteners, so you don’t accidentally overtighten them.

The gauge works with all 1/2in drive ratchets, breaker bars, and sockets. A 15in-long flexible clip arm shaft, spring clamp and powerful magnet are included.
