WEAR YOU COAT!

Many clearcoats have a tendency to become opaque or ‘yellow’ over time, especially the high-gloss types. The coating experts at ZyCoat say their ZyClear Clear Coat is the first gloss clearcoat that won’t go yellow on you, even when applied to parts that see high temperatures.

ZyClear can be sprayed or wiped on directly to steel, stainless steel, and other metals. It will protect aluminium from oxidation and anodised surfaces from UV discolouration and can be used as a topcoat for painted, chromed, polished and powdercoated parts.

ZyClear also makes a dandy topcoat for parts like headers, turbos, manifolds, exhaust systems and intercoolers More >

UNDER PRESSURE

Bad hot starting can be the result of a build-up of pressure in the fuel feed line of a carburettor-equipped car; this causes the carburettor to flood either during hot soak or while cranking

Some manufacturers addressed this problem by fitting a fuel return line to the tank; however, this is a cumbersome solution for owners of cars without this feature as it involves making irreversible modifications to the car. Fortunately, Webcon has the answer.

Webcon’s Fuel Line Pressure Relief Kit provides extra fuel hose, clips and two tee pieces (one with a valve and one without) to provide a by-pass loop More >

DAISY, DAISY …

RML Wheels (part of Ray Mallock Racing) has come up with their take on the iconic’ Daisy road wheel – with a difference. The wheel was made famous on the Mazda MX-5 Mk1 and given that in recent years, the MX-5 has been used in big numbers of kitcars and conversions.

At just 14in though they can restrict the perfoermance abilities of an innovative, lightweight kitcar and can limit the choice when it comes to upgrades such as brakes and dampers.

RML’s new version comes in 15in x 8in (but is a useful 2.5in wider) and is available now at £216 per More >

TALK THE TORQUE!

Sometimes a bolt won’t stay torqued down no matter how much it’s tightened. That’s when Summit Racing™ reckon that you’ll want to give their Nord-Lock® Washer Kits a try.

The wedge-locking design uses tension to keep bolts secured under severe vibration, expansion, and dynamic loads. This increases reliability and significantly reduces maintenance.

Summit Racing™ Nord-Lock® Washer Kits are available in several sizes to fit both SAE and metric bolts, with I.D. ranging from 5mm (.21 inches) to 20mm (.79 inches).

They are sold in packs of four or ten depending on size. More from Summit Racing™ Nord-Lock® Washer Kits ENDS.

Plenty of kitcar builders/owners like to follow a stealthy, classic clutter-free look for certain areas of their cars.

INDIAN MOTORCYCLES – SPIRIT OF MUNRO STREAMLINER AND REMEMBERING BURT MUNRO

I remember walking into Mark and Sylvia Grinnall’s stunning Mid West Moto showroom in Stourport-on-Severn, not so long ago and being transfixed by the Spirit of Munro Streamliner inspired by a legendary motorcycle land speed record campaigner, called Herbert ‘Burt’ Munro.

I remembered a 2006 film starring Anthony Hopkins called ‘The World’s Fastest Indian’ about Munro and I’ve been a fan of his ever since. Some research also unveiled another film – this time a documentary from 1971 called: ‘Offerings to the God of Speed’, which is also well worth seeking out.

Herbert ‘Burt’ Munro was an amazing chap. He was nearly More >
