PISTONS & PROPS REVIEW BY RICH HOWLETT
Oct 5th
Rich Howlett was at Pistons & Props at Sywell Airfield and brings us this report.
Glorious late September weather saw thousands pour through the gates for the annual two day all-action Sywell Pistons & Props weekend of high octane displays.
Whatever your preference, whether two-wheel or four, on the ground or in the air, the action kept coming thick and fast. On display saw my own 2017 triple award winning Lotus Seven-inspired Hardtop Coupé development with Patrick Morgan’s race-winning Penske PC23 Indy 500 racecar as driven by former F1 World Champion and Indy 500 race winner Emerson Fittipaldi.

LIGHTING UP

There are a number of companies from the Far East offering poor quality ‘Lucas style’ reproduction rear lights for the Classic Mini. Fortunately, Mini Spares can now offer the real thing – high quality Lucas-style lamps made in the UK from the original and genuine tooling. (although these lamps are made from original Lucas tooling the new Mini Spares versions cannot carry the Lucas logo as the trademark was sold to a third-party company several years ago).
The Mk1 Mini rear lamps are made exactly as the originals were with chromed pot-metal bases. These are perfect for replacing original lamps whose More >

During the winter months, preventing damp and the build-up of moisture in a garage with valuable cars and bikes can be a headache. Even if a garage is regularly visited, some can suffer from damp, due to their location. Chris Michael from Meaco, a leading UK supplier of dehumidifiers and air purifiers, gives advice on how to protect your possessions.
One of the biggest worries for many vehicle owners is how to keep their garage dry in the winter months to avoid damage to upholstery from the damp, cold British winter. Nothing is worse than being welcomed to a musty smell, which is More >

FOLIATEC HITS THIRTY-FIVE
Oct 5th
Foliatec® is celebrating its 35th birthday and 2017 also marks twenty years since the company launched its brake caliper lacquer.
With the growth in vehicles having brake discs fitted all-round, and thus brake calipers fitted to all four wheels. A downside of that is that alloy wheels have become much larger with thinner spokes thus emphasising the discs and calipers.
Therefore, it’s not a surprise to hear that Foliatec’s caliper paint – available in 25 colours – has been used to transform dirty-grey black calipers into something much more befitting.
No disassembly is required and you follow the straight-forward instructions in the Foliatec More >
GOOD SPORT
Sep 28th
Way back in 1962 Chevy’s chief engineer, Zora Arkus-Duntov, wanted to build a special Corvette (he was dubbed ‘Father of the Corvette’), one capable of winning the coveted GT class at the Le Mans 24-Hours race.
He came up with a stripped-down version, known internally as the LightWeight, until it became known as Grand Sport. A run of 125 was planned but when only five cars had been build GM brass decided to pull the plug, ordering that the cars be scrapped.
It’s said that all five still exist but even if you could buy one, I shudder to think how expensive More >
