Visited the artisan GRP workshop cum studio of Andy Westgate, boss of Westgate Composites, this week and was very impressed with the range of universal products and services he produces and can offer totalkitcar/TKC Mag readers.

Actually there’s a lot more than just glassfibre parts about the business as Andy, based near M4 J13 in Chieveley, Berkshire, can offer a bespoke design, creation and manufacturing service with his skills not just restricted to cars as he regularly also works on aircraft (powered and of the gliding variety) and boats too. Mini Spares is now able to offer their own reproduction of the Rover Airtex large impeller, higher capacity water pump.

The original has been unavailable since the Rover tooling was scrapped. Fitted with a PPS, glass-filled plastic impeller, as used by Jaguar and Aston Martin, it reduces weight on the bearing loading and has a triple lip seal, which gives  a better controlled flow rate through the rev range.
