OUCH! SAFETY FIRST

As summer approaches, it’s getting dark later and many of us are rushing home from work to get some jobs done on our cars before the sun sets.

Here’s a cautionary tale about what can happen if you don’t wait for your exhaust to cool down before you start work. The guy in the picture actually had a DEi Safety Heat Sleeve on order but didn’t wait for it to arrive – or for his exhaust to cool down. Now he has a painful burn and a lasting scar to remind him.

A DEI Safety Sleeve would have prevented all this as More >

Wire-locking of nuts and bolts is the norm for safety-critical assembles on many vintage, classic, race and kitcars.

These safety wire Twisting Pliers from Frost Automotive Restoration make the job much easier, compared to regular pliers, which require manual twisting, taking take time and effort.

The Frost items require a simple ‘one pull’ action and automatically return thus twisting wire quickly into a strand that won’t unravel. The pliers feature a built-in wire cutter, too.

To remove the newly twisted wire, clasp the pliers firmly and slide-up the centre-locking mechanism. To make the job even more efficient frost also sell a handy nut More >

NEW VETECH SCREENWASH FROM GSF

Vetech has just released their new screenwash, exclusively available from GSF Car Parts.

In common with all Vetech products, the screenwash offers trade-level high performance, but at a competitive price point. Vetech can hit the wide gap between poor quality ultra-cheap and premium branded formulations say GSF.

“We know some low cost screenwashes freeze at just -2ºC neat” said John Wright, general manager of GSF Garage Essentials. “So, any dilution means they offer practically no winter protection.”

By contrast, Vetech screenwash offers freeze protection down to -10ºC. So, it’s a genuinely effective de-icer used neat. Otherwise, it can comfortably be diluted to go More >

VERY CLEVER DEVICE

Flat batteries are a pain. They can be due to a lifeless battery, a ‘short’ somewhere or another reason like leaving the lights on. Things get worse when you can’t find an obvious reason for the drain

You can buy a trickle charger – there’s some good ones round – and leave your car connected to the mains, which can be fine if you have a locked garage, but the majority of motorists use on- and off-street parking (especially in London) car parks, and often airports

A great solution that we really have had success with – and undoubtedly an un-discovered gem More >
