This new product caught my eye the other day while perusing the ‘new products’ section of Car Builder Solutions’ website
A carbon-fibre (REAL carbon!) air filter canister with removable black ABS end caps it’ll handle engines rated up to 250bhp.
Inside is a fine, free-flowing, washable, mesh cone. To ensure cold air intake, mount the filter anywhere in your engine bay.
It comes with one metre of flexible, black ducting (supplied compressed), two x stainless-steel band clamps and two x 75mm I.D adaptor/reducer sleeves for connecting to your inlet manifold.

RML Wheels (part of Ray Mallock Racing) has come up with their take on the iconic’ Daisy road wheel – with a difference. The wheel was made famous on the Mazda MX-5 Mk1 and given that in recent years, the MX-5 has been used in big numbers of kitcars and conversions.
At just 14in though they can restrict the perfoermance abilities of an innovative, lightweight kitcar and can limit the choice when it comes to upgrades such as brakes and dampers.

Plenty of kitcar builders/owners like to follow a stealthy, classic clutter-free look for certain areas of their cars.
This continues throughout the whole car even stretching to the rear tyres where advances in technology and production methods over the last few years have enabled the discerning motorist to retain the look of a classic crossply but with modern radial characteristics.

The Princess-style brake caliper is a kitcar favourite. There are some companies producing upgraded versions including Hi Spec Motorsport
The standard Princess caliper is designed to use 245mm brake discs (or ‘rotors’ for our North American readers), which can cause dreaded ‘overlap’ issues with performance brake pads. I know I’m definitely not alone in experiencing this issue.
Rally Design has just launched a potential saviour of this issue with their 257mm discs available in plain face or performance cross-drilled and grooved. They are available now from £91.73 inc VAT per pair.

Ford parts meisters, RETRO FORD has a new Zetec-flavoured product that will appeal to kitcar drivers of cars powered with either Zetec ‘Blacktop’ or ‘Silvertop’.
They have made available genuine – hitherto hen’s teeth – Zetec crankcase/oil separator kits. It will also fit the ST170 version and also includes a gasket, fasteners and a PCV valve.

Lots of people could do with a bit more seating support in their cars.
Lack of lateral support is evident when compared to many daily drivers. not everyone can run to a seating update or don’t want to ruin the look of their car, especially if it’s a classic.
