KITCARS AT THE BOAT SHOW

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The latest missive from Tim Dutton is, as always, short but very sweet and to the point.

Tim will be at the Southampton Boat Show (Friday, September 16 to Sunday, September 25) and can be found floating at pontoon ‘M015’ and will have the new facelifted version of their Surf model on display.

We haven’t got an image of a revised Surf yet but here’s one Tim made earlier.

THREE SPECIALIST ELECTRIC RETROMODS

I like to keep an eye on developments within the electric car sector although naturally enough I have a particular interest in the specialist car side of things and three recent developments have caught my attention. Two of them are available to buy with the third one a concept – at the moment.

They definitely fit under the term restomod and are also very specialist but it’s good to see a couple of mainstream giants revisiting their pasts. I do wonder if these cars weren’t electric if they’d ever see the light of day, though.

First up is this lovely Fiat Jolly More >

BELT AND BRACES

This nifty little gadget is a double-sided stretchy-belt tool that is used for safely removing and installing stretchy drive/alternator and accessory belts without causing damage to either the belt or the pulley. Just introduced by Laser Tools (part number 8331), this is a combination of removal and installation tools for most stretchy-belt applications.

On the face of each side of the tool is a strong magnet to keep it in position as the pulley is turned to remove or install a new belt. As you rotate the crankshaft or pulley (by hand with a ratchet), the belt is eased steadily over More >

The latest batch of new products goodness from Car Builder Solutions has arrived at their Staplehurst, Kent HQ – don’t forget they have a shop onsite where you can personally collect your order. A lovely drive out in the Kent countryside is an added bonus of doing that.

Loving the range of old-school Bakelite-type switches that are new in including this on/off illuminated push/pull switch in green (they also have an orange one, too).

It mounts through a 12mm hole in panels up to 6mm thick. It features 1/4in spade terminals and is 16-amp. The knob (easy!) diameter is 2mm and the More >

SEALEY’S NEW PRODUCT SHOWCASE

Sealey’s latest promotion, valid from September 1 until the end of March 2023, showcases their New Lines catalogue showcases the continuous product development and commitment to incorporating the latest technology into their product range.

Sealey’s new 2180LE jack features an innovative 180° turning handle, which allows the jack to be used in the tightest of spaces. The heavy-duty chassis incorporates strengthening flanges along the top edge for extra torsional rigidity under load, while the profiled lifting arm allows a low clearance height of just 100mm, making it suitable for sports and custom cars. LIBERTY F-6 – IT’S ACE!

Pete Larsen of Seattle-based Liberty Motors has been producing cool three-wheelers for many years. Indeed, his Ace directly inspired the Morgan M3W and has now created the Ace F-6, which is powered by a Honda 1.8-litre engine but not from a Civic Type R but rather a Goldwing motorcycle meaning it is a flat-six unit, so must sound glorious.

Larsen worked closely with designer Pascal Golay of Rhino 3D and the shape is striking to these eyes.

The Goldwing is now up to its sixth version, but Larsen uses the fifth-generation engine and five-speed sequential gearbox. A Haltech ECU keeps things in More >

SIT COMFORTABLY IN HAWK CARS’ 289 REPLICA

A new product from Hawk Cars are these early-style 289 Cobra replica seats which will appeal to a wider audience than just owners/builders of the company’s 289 flavoured replicas.

Another brilliant new product from Hawk Cars

These have a steel frame, panelled in aluminium and trimmed in leather with a carpet back. Hawk also produces the later style which have a rubber diaphragm rubber seat base.

As Hawk Cars boss Gerry Hawkridge says: “Purists will appreciate the option.”
