DAMP BEETLE
Aug 20th
There’s no Beetle like a lowered Beetle, and now GAZ is offering special short front dampers for lowered Beetles made from 1965-79.
The dampers will also fit the Karmann Ghia and Beetle 1300A and 1500A from 1967-79 and therefore any kitcars and beach buggies using those components.
GAZ GT Dampers will provide variable bump and rebound rates which can be adjusted to suit the conditions and driving style. The damping rates can be altered by means of an easily accessible knob on the side of the units.
GAZ can set the dampers up for general road use and they will also be suitable for occasional More >
EXCITING KITCAR MANUFACTURING OPPORTUNITY
Aug 13th
As the UK emerges tentatively from the Covid-19 pandemic, many have been reconsidering their lifestyle choices, perhaps with a move from the city to the countryside or reassessing their work/life balance.
Artisan British kitcar manufacturer, Marlin Sportscars, is hoping to tap into the ‘new normal’ following the retirement of the company’s MD Terry Matthews, two exciting business opportunities are coming to the market.
Having briefly tested the water in 2019, a restructuring of the Marlin Sportscars portfolio now makes it far easier and affordable for any would-be kitcar manufacturer to enter this exciting scene (or an existing manufacturer to add to their More >

I DO LIKE A NICE BADGE
Aug 13th
Loving these top-quality enamel badges available now from Car Builder Solutions. A total of nineteen different designs are available.
I note a couple of them were as used by MG Rover on their ‘Z’ models and MG TF back in the day and as such have been out of production since 2005 when the manufacturer folded, but I always thought they added a smart touch to a specialist car.
Likewise, others I the range which includes a tasteful ‘St George’ Crusader cross, a Scottish Ecosse design and a nice outline of circuits such as Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Hockenheim and the Nürburgring.

DRY SUMP FOR YOUR PINTO
Aug 13th
A dry-sump system offers many advantages over a standard factory ‘wet’ sump.
Engine reliability is improved thanks to a more consistent oil pressure especially when cornering, there is an increased oil capacity due to a large external reservoir and the engine can be mounted lower in the vehicle as there is no large oil pan which helps lower the centre of gravity thereby improving handling and aerodynamics.
Fitting a dry-sump system to the Pinto engine has never been easier thanks to this conversion kit from Burton Power. Most of the conversion is a simple bolt-on affair with only the front of the More >

SMELLS NICE BUT DON’T DRINK IT – PLEASE DON’T DRINK IT!
Aug 13th
I am partial to a banana milkshake! Therefore, even though it’s not yellow, I really like Core, the interior detailer from Aenso. However, don’t drink it for goodness sake.
It does clean and protect all interior trim and plastic though, something that a banana milkshake can’t do. Plus it leaves an anti-static effect on all surfaces.
I also noticed that on the cars I tried it on the colour of the plastics were somehow enhanced, which I like greatly.
A smear-free, satin-finish. What’s not to like? I’m sure that although it costs £12.85 for a 500ml bottle the banana milkshake that I had More >
KEEP COOL DON’T BLOW A GASKET
Aug 13th
It is generally believed that the best head gaskets are made of copper, but there is more than one copper head gasket on the market.
The original Payen-stamped gasket TAM2121 is now obsolete, so it’s a good job that the latest Mini Spares gasket is UK-made to the original drawing specifications with latter-day improvements.
The Mini Spares gasket features perfect combustion and oil fire rings and a 3.35cc compressed volume. It will fit850/997/998/1100cc engines and, best of all, it’s cheaper than the original.
Order as part number GUG702506HG at £10.80 inc VAT.

A WET WAX THAT DOES WHAT IT SAYS
Aug 13th
There’s a growing number of ‘wet coat’ products appearing on the market although they are nothing really new. I guess people are beginning to realise just how effective they can be in your car care armoury.
In my view, I swear by them and once you use one I think you’ll agree. Trouble is there is some real bandwagon-jumping rubbish on the market although there are some great ones.
One that I have been using for ages comes from Gliptone, the American brand whose products are distributed in the UK by the guys at Liquid Leather in Chester. It’s called Wax-After-Wash and More >
