376 REASONS TO BUY A BLUEPRINT GM ENGINE!

Summit Racing reckon that you might be able to build a GM LS engine that can make close to the 530bhp and 495 lb-ft of torque this BluePrint Engines Pro Series engine does, but it won’t be easy or cheap, and it certainly won’t come dyno-tested or backed by a 30 month/50,000-mile limited warranty like the BluePrint mill does.

BluePrint built this 376 CID (6.2L) engine with the good stuff:

  • GM 6.2-litre aluminium block
  • 3.622in stroke nodular iron crankshaft
  • 6.098in long connecting rods with bolts rated to 150,000 PSI
  • Hypereutectic pistons, 10.7:1 compression with 72cc heads
  • Hydraulic roller camshaft, 225°/238° duration @ .050, .612”/.585” lift, 113° More >

CATERHAM GROWS ITS DEALER NETWORK

Caterham Cars has appointed two new retailers, with one of them based in the heart of Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. The new retailer will be operated by the respected Leven Motor Company, which also represents premium brands Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin.

The second new site is based in a brand-new showroom, just a few minutes from Silverstone circuit. Run by the existing Lotus Silverstone retailer, the addition of the Caterham franchise will build further on the business’ already a long-standing reputation as one of Lotus’ top retailers in Europe.

Both outlets are now open for business with official launch events for customers More >

SUPER DRYING TOWEL FROM AUTOGLYM AND VILEDA

Autoglym has recently launched InstaDry, a different type of automotive drying towel, which they claim has astounding performance. The amount of water that is removed from the car seems disproportionate to that held in the cloth.

The InstaDry has great parentage, being the product of two well-established giants from different worlds of cleaning solutions. Autoglym has partnered with Vileda (have a look at ‘er indoors’ cleaning gear in the cupboard under the sink!) to introduce this hydrophilic cloth into the world of car care.

The PVA-coated microfibre-type cloth reduces drying time with its super absorbency. It holds a dear grip on water, More >

NOPE! NO CHEST JOKES, HERE

This new, professional quality, heavy-duty, lockable toolchest and cabinet is perfect for keeping tools secure and tidy.

Main features include extra-large drawer pulls with protective anti-slip drawer-liners ball-bearing runners for super smooth sliding action, extra double wall steel construction, large 5in industrial chrome-spoked wheels with foot brakes, rubber grip side handles and extra-large chrome steel side handles for easy movement.

HOT LS3 CAMS FROM SUMMIT RACING

Like an ice cream parlour with only one flavour, Summit Racing reckoned that having just one Pro LS Turbo camshaft just wasn’t right. So, their Pro LS people came up with three more cam grinds to cover engine builds from mild to wild.

These hydraulic roller camshafts are precision-machined from high-quality, American-made steel. Their state-of-the-art lobe designs pull strongly past 7000rpm using valve springs rated as little as 150lbs at the seat and 400lbs of open spring pressure. The cams work well with stock rockers and budget-friendly valve spring and retainer kits.

REINFORCED A-SERIES HOSES

Mini Spares has noticed that most of the standard rubber coolant hoses that are available seem to have a much shorter life expectancy than you would want.

If you’ve ever tried it you’ll know you don’t want to fit radiator hoses to a classic Mini engine that often! The solution was for Mini Spares to develop its own brand and reinforce it with KevlarÒ- the same material that is used in ballistic vests and helmets. You can see the KevlarÒfor yourself – it’s the white strands visible at the ends of the hoses.

This has extended the life of the coolant hoses More >

HERITAGE SUPPORTS FORMULA VEE

Classic VW and Porsche parts purveyors Heritage Parts Centre has been in touch with news that they will once again be title sponsors for the long-running Formula Vee race championship.

Powered by the trusty VW 1300sp engine, this grassroots single-seater championship is celebrating its 52nd year in the UK in 2019.

These pocket rockets also rely on Beetle front suspension and gearboxes, produce in excess of 100bhp and top 100mph on the straights, which makes for some pretty spectacular racing for both drivers and spectators alike.

Heritage CEO Barney Dines said: “Formula Vee is a real celebration of how good the air-cooled VW More >

KARMA PROJECT FOR SALE

When you look at the kitcar sales charts from the last seventy years the names Caterham and Lotus sit right at the top, which in the case of the latter who offered their last car in component form as far back as 1973, shows just how prolific their kit sales were.

Another kit that sits in a healthy position is the Karma by RW Kit Cars of Melton Mowbray. The company was run by skilled fibreglass laminator, Roger Woolley, who back in the eighties also ran an egg business and he’d make his deliveries in his Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. A proper More >
