HERE’S ONE FOR MX-5-BASED KIT OWNERS’. SEE, I DIDN’T STOOP TO A ‘HORN’ JOKE!

MX5parts has announced that it is once again stocking a range of aftermarket automotive horns from Stebel, the Italian manufacturer’s wares having proved justifiably popular when they were last offered by the MX5 specialist.

The extensive nature of the range carried by MX5parts means that there’s almost certain to be a Stebel horn suited to your particular car and/or application, whether or not you happen to own an example of the Mazda MX-5. This means that a wide selection of people can potentially experience the benefits of one of the best automotive horn systems currently on the market, one that embodies More >

ABSTER – A STUNNER

Paul Goldsmith’s new Jakabi Abster made its debut at last weekend’s Stoneleigh show and was greeted with excellent response.

Although Paul has yet to set the final prices for the MGF-based body conversion, the automotive clay modeler reckons kits should start at around the £3500 mark.

He’s also supplying a stylish and subtle interior package that lifts the original but let’s face it, functional cockpit beautifully. He has already had enquiries from MGF owners looking to buy this particular element of his kit on its own.

I think the Mercedes-Benz sourced paint look good on the Abster too. You can read the EXCLUSIVE More >

GD427 – A CLASSIC

In addition to having an outstanding stand at Stoneleigh last weekend, Gardner Douglas Sports Cars also unveiled their new GD 427 EURO ‘CLASSIC’ which joins the existing EURO model but allows fitment of traditional 15in wheels.

Like the standard EURO, the CLASSIC doesn’t require a donor vehicle and comes with fully adjustable suspension all-round, limited slip differential, AP Racing front brakes, Protech dampers and can underpin the company’s Mk3, Mk3R or Mk4 Cobra replica body styles. The CLASSIC is also available as a chassis pack rather than the standard EURO, which comes in rolling chassis form only.

NOW, THAT’S COOL

I was very impressed with DNA Automotive’s new model the 2fifty at Stoneleigh show last week and I wasn’t the only one.

It’s the Redditch operation’s interpretation of a classic Italian stallion from the sixties, based on BMW Z3 floorpan and mechanicals. The body conversion turned a lot of heads at the show.

Kit prices start at £7140 inc VAT, which buys the body panels and other parts to get you on your way. The other parts required can be sourced by the customer or in stages from DNA although some are specific to the kit. This includes the lighting pack, grilles More >

IT’LL BE DANCING GIRLS AND DRY ICE NEXT!

Fresh from the launch of their staggeringly good Evolution model, Ultima Sports haven’t been resting on their laurels despite a three year waiting list for fully built cars and have made some changes to their packages, which now include longer front wishbones and revised suspension geometry and a faster steering rack, which now gives 2.1 rather than 2.4 turns lock-to-lock.

Ultima boss, Richard Marlow says that the changes give more front end bite while also making the cars more compliant in feel.

THAT’S SWEET, REALLY SWEEEEEET!

Paul Marriott and Wayne Francis are the men behind the new Sweet Rides Customs who took their show debut at Stoneleigh last weekend.

Their colourful stand featuring Paul’s outstanding MEV Rocket attracted lots of visitors. The duo can offer carbon and GRP parts such as seats and wings, painting and hydro-dipping among many other services.

The parts seem right as do their prices and they were extremely happy with the response to their new venture at the show.

PLUG AND PLAY FOR MX-5

When kitcar owners/builders are looking for a nice set of gauges, instruments or gadgetry for their cars they invariably head for Digital Speedos’ website or stand a various shows around the country.

Their latest introduction is a Mazda MX-5 speed sensor that means you can use the standard speedo cable without mucking around as it’s a simple plug and play unit that costs just £35 inc VAT.

It joins the Birmingham-based operation’s line-up of Smiths and KOSO, the latter for whom they are official UK distributor.

A new website is being set-up although in the meantime you can reach him via 07733 264 426 ENDS.

AN EXCITING ‘NU DIMENSION’!

Exciting new launch at Stoneleigh this week is the GTB from new manufacturer, A Nu Dimension, which turns a sheddy Porsche Boxster (986 generation) into a 911 GT3 lookalike.

Old Boxsters are two a penny and although they are a more than decent car they can suffer from a few foibles that can and does toast the engine. Now, get an old one that has been sorted and/or well maintained and it makes for a very sound donor vehicle.

The man behind A Nu Dimension is ex-DNA co-director, Roland Smith so the quality of this one is almost guaranteed, such is his More >
