I BADLY WANT ONE OF THESE!

A product that had fascinated me for a while turned out to be as exciting as I hoped once I got the chance to check it out at first hand at last week’s Race Retro stand, where GaugePilot was sharing a portion of exclusive agent’s, Holden Vintage & Classic’s stand.

Taking styling cues from the classic Speedmaster display, GaugePilot is a digital version from two UK engineers, offering a staggering 32-channels of data. It’s the ultimate onboard information system for classic, motorsport and of course, discerning kitcar owner.

NEW KIT FOR ‘BUSA

Superb new Suzuki Hayabusa engine kit launched last weekend at Race Retro by product development specialist’s Vetech, based in Buxton, Derbyshire. The rapid prototype experts have re-packaged the Hayabusa, complete with gearbox, into a 1299cc monster delivering 190bhp and have come up with a ‘plug and play’ package to suit the Classic Mini.

Courtesy of the company’s fiendishly clever drive system that incorporates reverse gear along with a Q      uaife ATB limited slip differential, packaging is first class.

CLASSIC BLACK SILICONE HOSES

Winter is almost over (thanks goodness) and it’s definitely about now when I’m compiling my Spring ‘to do’ on my cars list together.

With a couple of magazine project cars on the go this year, one of the upgrades I’m definitely looking at is this new range of products from SamcoSport, the world’s leading manufacturer of silicone hoses.

They’ve just released a new line-up race-specification silicone hoses in their famous Classic Black finish. This is ideal for classic racing or upgrading your kitcar’s engine, particularly if it’s an older type, with something infinitely more reliable than the original rubber hoses.

HAND IN GLOVE

For several decades mechanics and engineers have been protecting themselves by wearing latex or vinyl gloves while they are working. It seems strange that after all this time we are still using the medical examination type of glove and no one has addressed the particular problems that this presents to mechanics, engineers, classic, race, kitcar enthusiasts, farmers etc. who use these gloves daily. Until now…

Eurax is now offering Warrior Grip gloves that address many of the problems that we are all familiar with. These gloves are designed to last a whole day at work without ripping, tearing or dissolving. They More >

RIGHT OIL FOR THE JOB

Classic Mini A-Series engines and other classics from that era need a quality multigrade 20/50 engine oil. Lighter, modern oils tend to creep past the valve seals and produce visible smoke when the engine is pushed hard.

Also modern oils don’t have the same levels of protective zinc content as period oils did when the A-Series was new. These factors, along with the fact that 20/50 oils are getting harder and harder to find prompted Mini Spares to take the reins and offer their own brand of engine oil that is exactly right for Minis – and other classic car engines More >
