SHIFT STUBBORN FIXINGS

Designed specifically for stubborn and high torque crankshaft pulley fixings, Laser Tools has just introduced a set of three counter-weighted 1/2in drive sockets (part number 8953).

These are engineered for removing extremely tight fixings – the added weight reduces impact loss, allowing more effective torque delivery from impact guns. The high strength and mass make the socket very rigid; less torque from the impact gun is wasted in socket distortion, this torque going straight to the fastener.

Suitable for a range of vehicles and ideal for high-torque applications, particularly high-torque crankshaft pulley fixings. The three sizes included are 17mm, 19mm, and 21mm More >

THE ROCKER!

Mini Spares has just introduced a pair of original style ‘tin’ (actually pressed steel) rocker covers to renovate any A series or A+ engine without the work and expense of repairing and repainting the existing rocker cover.

The Mini Spares rocker covers are available in two versions: either the green that is generally associated with BMC and British Leyland engines and comes with a smart chrome oil filler cap. Or there is a semi-gloss black version that has a matching black filler cap.

Both rocker covers retail at £27 each inc VAT, which is likely to be cheaper than the cost of repairing More >

OILY BUSINESS!

High-performance and racing GM LS engines must have the factory-installed Active Fuel Management (AFM) and/or Variable Valve Timing (VVT) systems deleted to maximise power.

However, when these systems are removed, excess oil is pumped through the engine, resulting in over-pressuring and possible damage to engine components.

The Summit Racing™ Oil Pan Pressure Relief Valve Plug for GM LS fixes this by plugging the secondary pressure relief valve built into the oil pan.

The Allen-head style aluminium plug features M14 x 1.5 threads and a black anodised finish. An aluminium crush washer ensures a proper seal.

OOOH, I SAY!

Big fan of Welsh manufacturer, MST Cars, who have just added a third model to their range which already features Mk1 and Mk2 Ford Escort-inspired cars available in kit and fully built form.

They’ve recently unveiled their take on the Escort Mk2 RS2000, called the MST EVO-X, with the ‘X’ referring to Ford Motorsport’s Widebody X-Pack option available for the RS2000, in period.

Just like MST’s other models, the EVO-X looks exquisite., particularly with that ‘droopsnoot’ front end.

Two normally-aspirated four-cylinder engines are available with the Duratec 2.5-litre standard complete with 275bhp. The range-topper is a Millington Diamond engine, which delivers 350bhp.

SAINT OR SINNER

Great to see the launch of the new Solus Motorsport MR2 Sinner (it made its debut at Newark Kit Car Festival in September). Derived from the Blackwell SPR2, Solus boss, Mark Gray has been working hard modifying the project.

UNDER PRESSURE

Bad hot starting can be the result of a build-up of pressure in the fuel feed line of a carburettor-equipped car; this causes the carburettor to flood either during hot soak or while cranking.

Some manufacturers addressed this problem by fitting a fuel return line to the tank; however, this is a cumbersome solution for owners of cars without this feature as it involves making irreversible modifications to the car. Fortunately, Webcon has the answer.

Webcon’s Fuel Line Pressure Relief Kit provides extra fuel hose, clips and two tee pieces (one with a valve and one without) to provide a by-pass loop More >
