Another of the great sixties ‘speed’ companies was Shorrock Superchargers and their products were in great demand to owners of various car makes with Ford engines being their prime area of success. Their appeal was helped by the fact that the donor engine needed no modifications.
That sounds a bit too good to be true and it slightly was as they did have weaknesses but there were plenty of happy Shorrock customers up and down the land.

FORMING THE FUTURE AT GBS

Great British Sportscars, composites department has moved to a new purpose-built facility at the company’s HQ near Ollerton.
The company’s composites department enables them to meet growing demand in a larger modern workshop space and to help meet the growing demands of future projects.
All of the GRP bodywork for the Zero range is created in-house by the GBS team and is available in a choice of nine gelcoat colours along with optional carbon-fibre parts.
GBS has also recently invested in a new plastic vac-forming machine that will enable them to create new parts and expand their product range further.

PINTO GETS THE BEANS FROM WEBCON

NO MESS OIL CHANGES

Changing engine oil can be a messy job! And different engines have different oil neck configurations. When using a traditional funnel, one hand has to be used to keep the funnel steady, and if the filler neck has a baffle, the oil has to be poured in very slowly and carefully, or else the oil will overflow and spill.

Many specialist car enthusiasts have high regard for Clapham-based Allard Cars founded and run by Sydney Allard. The company was active between 1945-1966 although the last ‘proper’ Allard was built in 1958.
Sydney enjoyed being an underdog and one of his favourite sayings was ‘high performance through ingenuity’ and it summed him and his company up rather beautifully, I think. He first started driving his own ‘specials’ in trials and was a very accomplished exponent.
