THE STORY OF ALEXIS CARS AND THE ALEXIS GT THAT DIDN’T OFFICIALLY EXIST!

THE STORY OF THE ALEXIS GT
I spotted this stunning little GT car in archives recently but initially couldn’t find the notes that I knew should have been with it. It was called the Alexis GT and for a few weeks that was all I knew because I couldn’t find that pesky missing information.
I also looked at my book of words on Alexis Cars but that just confused me more as they only produced trials car and single-seaters for Formula Junior, F100 (single-seater formula for cars powered by Kent Crossflow 1300 engines), FF1600, F3 and F2 between 1959-1976.

TIM DUTTON SALE
Oct 13th
Press release from Tim Dutton marks the beginning of the end of an incredible legacy building kitcars which began in the late sixties.
Tim changed the way that kitcars were sold and marketed. Numerous whole-page adverts in trade magazines every month got the message across. I wonder, how many more he would have sold in an internet age.
Until Tim came along kitcars were often quite high priced and quite often everything bar the body and chassis were considered extras. Tim changed that and very much adhered to the ‘pile ’em high; sell ’em cheap’ mantra with full kits often priced around More >
NO, NOT 9 TYPES. IT’S A TYPE 9!
Oct 13th
Burton Power has announced that it can now offer its own fully reconditioned Type 9 (also referred to as a ‘Type N’ gearbox in some workshop manuals) five-speed gearbox as an outright sale; no exchange is required.
The gearbox comes with standard gear ratios: 3.65/1.97/1.37/1:1/0.82 and is suitable for Ford four-cylinder engines requiring a short input shaft.
This was Ford’s first rear-wheel-drive five-speed box, based on the four-speed Type E. It features a cast iron main case with an alloy tail housing.
This gearbox is the most commonly used for five-speed conversions on older vehicles, not just for classic Fords but More >

ON GUARD!
Oct 13th
Duel Auto Care is a car care brand I really like and their Oxide Hybrid Quick Detailer is a particularly good product in my view.
Not only did it give a good level of gloss on my paintwork but it is also designed to give a level of protection from just one quick application.
I also liked the excellent levels of beading and water repellency and is said to give durability lasting up to eight weeks. A 500ml spray bottle (good trigger, by the way) costs £14.99 and is available from www.duelautocare.co.uk ENDS.

Oct 13th
D.R.K THREE-WHEELER by STEVE HOLE Pix from TKC MAG Archive
What a great little car the D.R.K was, originally intended as a fun one-off but met with such critical acclaim that it went into series built-to-order production.
Its origins date back to the mid-eighties when friends, Derek Callister and Keith Hamer from Ellesmere Port, decided that after many years of messing around with cars it would be a real hoot to build their own.
They discussed ideas and came up with a short-list of requirements that the car needed to have such as front wheel drive, air-cooled four-cylinder engine, two-seater sports and aluminium More >
